Automation Technician
Elgin, IL (Onsite)
Pay: $24.00–$27.00 per hour

Hansen Plastics Corporation (HPC) is a fully employee-owned company specializing in plastic injection molding and manufacturing solutions. We are looking for a hands-on Automation Technician who enjoys robotics, troubleshooting, CAD design, and building practical automation solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience or training in robotics, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, automation, or manufacturing technology who wants to grow their career with a stable and supportive company.
What You’ll Do
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots and automation systems
- Design, build, and maintain end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
- Create and modify automation components using SolidWorks
- Utilize 3D printing for prototyping and production tooling
- Troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automation systems
- Support preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime
- Improve automation reliability, cycle times, and process efficiency
- Follow safe work practices and support continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
- Hands-on experience through school, internships, projects, or work with:
- Robotics
- Automation systems
- CAD software
- Manufacturing equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial robotics or automation systems
- SolidWorks CAD experience
- EOAT design or fabrication experience
- Familiarity with PLCs and HMIs
- Experience with 3D printers
- Injection molding or manufacturing experience
- Education or training in:
- Automation
- Robotics
- Mechatronics
- Industrial Maintenance
- Related technical fields

Location
This position is onsite in Elgin, Illinois. Candidates must be able to reliably commute or relocate independently. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
